Annual Events

Annual Community Prayer Breakfast

Held during the month of June, our annual prayer breakfast commemorates the victims who've lost their lives to senseless acts of gun violence.  The community, local leaders, preachers, and community partners come together to support one another.  The event is free to the public, which includes a free breakfast. Video and memorabilia of lost loved ones are shared with the community. Families who have lost a loved one are invited to attend, their loved ones are recognized, and roses are given to each family.

June is Go Orange Month

Orange is the color for gun violence prevention.  FEDUP encourages the City of Roanoke to "Go Orange" for gun violence prevention/awareness for the entire month of June.  The official date for Go Orange is the 1st Friday in June, which is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.  FEDUP distributes orange arm bands, t-shirts, and ribbons throughout the community.

Christmas of Hope

Christmas of Hope is an event for the children who have lost a parent due to gun violence.  For most of the children, this will be their first Christmas without the deceased parent.  It is our desire to bring as much peace and joy as possible during this difficult time.  The event includes festive Christmas decorations, lunch for the entire family, music, a hot chocolate bar, and gifts for the children.

Current Calendar

Currently, the Roanoke Valley is experiencing record numbers of shootings and homicides from gun violence.  The needs are non-stop and FEDUP is here to answer the call.  Help FEDUP continue the work of supporting our community as they grieve the loss of their loved ones to gun violence, your financial support is appreciated.
